Courtney Cox’s luxurious Malibu hideaway
Since she was first pulled onstage by Bruce Springsteen in his music video for Dancing in the Dark, Courtney Cox has carved out an impressive Hollywood niche for herself. Starring as the neurotic Monica Gellar on Friends – one of the most successful sitcoms of all time – Cox has gone on to land roles in the Scream franchise as well as Cougar Town.
Considering her impressive acting resume, it should come as no surprise that Cox has built herself a luxurious beachside hideaway in Malibu. If you're looking to bring some of the actress' signature décor style into your own home, here are some tips to get started.
Limited color palette
Before Cox started renovating, the house essentially looked like an old, worn-out barn with dark brown wood throughout. Today, the home features a contemporary aesthetic driven largely by the actress' use of a limited color palette. Both indoors and out, clean white walls dominate much of the home with tables, stools and lamps to match. Cox offsets this uniform scheme by using natural stone flooring and circular concrete end tables in her living room. Much of her furniture also adheres to this white and gray dynamic – with the occasional splash of color from houseplants and fabrics.
Outdoor entertaining
Considering the actress' beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, it would be a shame if she didn't take advantage of the outdoor entertainment potential of her beachside retreat – and she does. In addition to a traditional deck area with simple yet comfortable outdoor furnishings, Cox also installed a bar that extends outside from her interior kitchen. Closer to the ocean is a square-shaped seating area with a luxurious outdoor fireplace at the center.
Inspired artwork
While Cox's overall décor is minimalistic, she manages to add some artistic interest with various paintings scattered through her home. In each room there seems to be one piece that is not only creatively engaging in its own right, but also works within the established aesthetic of the room in terms of color and framing.
